It&#8217;s called fly-fishing because of the lure, or &#8220;fly&#8221;, which, unlike bait, isn&#8217;t food for the fish but only pretends to be. To protect the fish and other life in the river there are quite a few regulations, so make sure you know what is and isn&#8217;t allowed. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcadventure.com\/ianforbes\/cowich\/cowich.phtml\">British Columbia Travel Guide<\/a> says that the Cowichan River &#8220;is the most regulated river in British Columbia and consequently it&#8217;s one of the best&#8221;.
